　今天（ 9 月 4 日）上午就收到這來自紐澤西的郵件：

　
　而我定睛一瞧，那右下方的寄件人簽名似乎是 ERRO 本人的：

　正在我對這簽名產生聯想時，發現這包裝郵資是 11.98 USD，而我一共買了 5 片，那時的郵資是 7 USD，也就是說，ERRO幫我出了 4.98 USD，好感 +1。

　可是，我又發現 Music Fan First 怎麼沒有包膠膜？我猜想是因為首批所以趕著出貨的緣故，打開 CD 殼後，我開始閱讀厚達 28 頁，那 ERRO 始終落落長的專輯內頁，但～

　這簽名著實嚇了我一跳，因為我昨晚才在想，忘了在訂單註記我想索取 ERRO 的簽名。

【端倪】霍桑實驗：Hawthorne Headhunters Mixtape

　

　　

　曾接觸過法政類科的人應該對Hawthorne這個字不會陌生。

　

　Hawthorne Headhunters是由I, Ced、Black Spade和Proh Mic三人組成的製作團隊，而這張經由DJ Needles混音、可供免費或贊助付費下載的HVW8 RECORDS x FRESH SELECTS present…Hawthorne Headhunters Mixtape，是近期我聽得很仔細的專輯。

　

　先從這首歌曲下手，She Wanna。

　

　

　

　She Wanna是今年年初便找得到的歌曲，這支live video的人員就是接下來的專輯班底（但控制團體主節奏的I, Ced並未於video中現身）。

　一開始坐著的那位是Black Spade。他在2008年發行了個人專輯To Serve With Love，在台灣是交由映象唱片出版（台壓片），節奏很特別的一張alternative HipHop專輯。

　中途出現的女聲是JimiJames。取了個男性化的名字，又稱為Rah Rah Girl的JimiJames，2006年曾發行她的音樂碟The Truth。這類現場演出經驗超豐富的女聲，音樂掌握度比一般錄音室歌手要強很多。

　那位亂晃的男聲就是Coultrain。個人高度推崇的Coultrain，來自密西西比河岸的聖路易城，以些許藍調的嗓音，表現慵懶卻自信的獨特音樂性，無論是出版的個人專輯或與PPP合作的歌曲，都是不可多得的作品。

　HVW8 RECORDS x FRESH SELECTS present…Hawthorne Headhunters Mixtape，是7月初與黑樂網站freshselects聯名發表之作，基本上它的歌曲卡接並不是做的很出色；但我們可以不考慮這小瑕疵。這張專輯傳達的要旨，似乎隱藏著1920年代Hawthorne Experience的精神──從科學管理以理論主導的局限中，找出後來意外促成的行為科學理論。

　科學管理好比是HipHop和R&B的各自論述，行為科學則是歸納變動中的人的行為。Hawthorne Headhunters以HipHop和R&B為根基，藉著不斷的實驗，考慮客觀的人的因素（實證法），或許過程是讓人摸不著頭緒的新手段，結果也純屬未知，但其目的卻是為廣意範疇的黑人音樂試探新方向。

　這是自2005年左右便展開的音樂態度，這張mixtape，只是眾多實驗中的其中一個果實，期待再五年左右，HipHop與R&B可經由這些默默耕耘的人們手中，媒合出新樂種。這不是憑空臆測，而是可大膽猜測的未來事實。

　The Hawthorne Headhunters is a project made up of the individuals Stoney Rock (aka Black Spade), Ced No and Proh Mic and was conceived in 2007 at Ced’s recording studio in that special place between Long Beach and Los Angeles - Hawthorne, California.

　Black Spade’s music is a melting pot of sounds hailing from St. Louis by way of New York, Detroit, L.A., and everywhere that hip-hop has carved a distinctive and influential sound for itself. Along with his longtime friend Ced from St. Louis and Seattle transplant Proh Mic, the trio locked it down under the shine of Hollywood Park and created songs in the great traditions of musical heavyweight projects such as Funkadelic, Soulquarians, Native Tongues Posse and Bloomfield, Kooper, and Stills’ Super Session.

　The Hawthorne Headhunters are at the crossroads of funk, soul, jazz and hip-hop from players already years deep in the game. The music spans these genres seamlessly blurring the lines between the Southern-influenced tastes of singer/rapper/producer Black Spade and keyboard and studio controller Ced No with the next level northern bounce of rapper/producer Proh Mic.

　I know its been a minute but here it is - the highly anticipated mixtape from the new hybrid supergroup, Hawthorne Headhunters. For those of you who still don’t know, HH is a three-headed production/vocal beast consisting of Stoney Rock (better known as Black Spade), Ced No (or I, CED when he’s solo) and Proh Mic. The group’s debut project, a five-track EP, drops next week on both vinyl and iTunes as the first release on HVW8 Records.

　To go along with the EP, we’ve put together this mixtape, mixed by STL cohort DJ Needles, featuring the best of the group’s unreleased works over the years - both solo and as a unit. Also highlighted in the mix are their solo productions for some of their up-and-coming collaborators, including Coultrain, Jada Avenue, JimiJames, Stopha Vasquez, and TeLuv - most of which appear on the EP.

　And even with 18 exclusive tracks - this mixtape is just the beginning of a barrage of material coming from the Hawthorne Headhunters. 現年29歲，以音樂獎學金進入邁阿密大學就讀的Eric Stinnett，畢業之後，致力求追求個人音樂之路，曾經在EMI實習，但卻未因此一帆風順。
　
這張《Chocolate Soul》是他的音樂寫照，在缺乏大唱片公司的奧援下，也在他自認處於「blessings of adversity」之中，每首歌曲都極富靈魂樂的深層張力。

　Neo-Soul是一股渾沌不明的暗夜洪流，在靜止不動的水面下，自我表述意志。
　
　人們可以認為：「Neo-Soul擺脫不了教人費解的囹圄。」雖然Neo-Soul會不以為然的反駁道：「在我還沒有為自己下定論之前，誰都不許胡亂猜測我的企圖。」可是，若要Neo-Soul主動積極的提出自我辯護，好像找不到確切依據。
　
　2008年，Neo-Soul總算交出一部報告書，說清楚、講明白、向人們解惑。
　
　事情發生在德勒斯登（Dresden），這座位於易北河河谷的德國第四大城。這年的四月，一場名為「The Dresden Soul Symphony」的演出，悄悄於遠離Neo-Soul母體美國之東歐大陸展開。
　
　這場演出集結了美國與德國兩地的音樂資源──美國的代表是三位Neo-Soul歌手Tweet、Bilal、Dwele，以及擔綱編曲工作的Larry Gold和他的女婿Daniel Felsenfeld；德國的代表是Neo-Soul歌手Joy Denalane、MDR電台音樂總監Reinhard Bärenz和他的MDR Symphony Orchestra、德日混血並被喻為Herbert von Karajan（卡拉揚）接班人的指揮名家Jun Märkl，以及發行《The Dresden Soul Symphony》專輯的德國黑人音樂唱片公司FOUR MUSIC Productions。
　
　FOUR MUSIC Productions是由德國HipHop先鋒團體Die Fantastischen Vier所創立，十幾年來於該國推廣黑人音樂不遺餘力，此次，Die Fantastischen Vier將他們的平台FOUR MUSIC Productions商借給Neo-Soul，是很有意義的一件事。

　這場在交響樂架構下呈現出來的音樂內容，說起來並非Neo-Soul，而是Soul。由於Neo-Soul的本性較為隨意，很容易讓同時開始接觸Neo-Soul與Soul的人，或先接觸Neo-Soul再接觸Soul的人，找不到兩者的關聯性，往往搞不清楚Neo-Soul是承繼Soul而來的新樂種，所以Neo-Soul發展到後來幾乎讓人懷疑它血統論。儘管Larry Gold貴為費城Neo-Soul的中流柢柱，Bilal和Dwele也是赫赫有名的Neo-Soul中堅分子，但他們還是得為廣大的聽眾連接兩者，況且，他們也的確做到了。

【遙祭】Lee Bannon - Me & Marvin

　
　
很美的一張HipHop專輯，雖然它只是一張EP形式。

駐紮於美國東岸沙加緬度的地下嘻哈製作人Lee Bannon（被稱作Sacramentos version of Dilla!!!），在這張《Me & Marvin》就如其意旨：收錄的作品全都自Marvin Gaye的身上取樣而出！而且參與的不只有西岸人士（S.O.L.、The Jacka、C Plus），東岸的波士頓城（Singapore Kane、Termanology、Big Shug、Superstah Snuk）與紐約市（Skyzoo、Sha Stimuli、Torae、Reks、Donny Goines）的專家更是相挺，而Lee Bannon接下來的正式專輯在籌備中。

也許是多了Marvin Gaye的音樂比重，Lee Bannon的產品剛中帶柔，但絕非摻合靈魂樂，而是具備陳述性質的黑人音樂智慧展現。
