There has always been a desire to define Rahsaan Patterson as just a NeoSoul artist. I have never liked that definition for many of the artists that elevate, risk, and paint musical journeys with their craft. These talented artists think outside of the ambiguous, proverbial box of music genres.
如何將Rahsaan Patterson定義成新靈魂樂藝人始終是個難解之癮。我不喜歡把藝人的音樂表現套上紅袖添香的外在定義，這些擁有洋溢才華的藝人的思維總是超越那些曖昧又制式的音樂分類。
As listeners we’ve become accustomed to the stereotypical, manufactured, formulaic music of today’s radio-ready performers. Devoid of originality
作為聽眾，我們已經習慣定型、包裝、公式化的音樂且毫不選擇的全然接受，原創性杳然無蹤。
When I listen to Rahsaan’s music it’s an ever changing audible portrait of what true music should be for the listener. “Moving it forward musically.” We’re exposed to a style that is not of the norm for black male artists in the bizz today. Rahsaan is one of a kind. With his last disk “Wines and Spirits” Rahsaan gave us an intermingled, cohesive fusion of Funk, Soul, Rock, Jazz and Jesus. This disk remains in heavy rotation when I want to escape from the predictabilities of current music trends. It’s definitely fine wine with gumbo.
當我聆聽Rahsaan的音樂，它猶如一個千變萬化的聲音肖像，放送著真正該給聽眾感受的優質音樂。「音樂是革自己的命。」若我們想接觸有別於當今黑人男性藝人的種種表現模式，聽聽Rahsaan準沒錯。以他的最近一張專輯《Wines and Spirits》來論，Rahsaan給了我們一種融合著放克樂、靈魂樂、搖滾樂、爵士樂，以及贊頌耶穌的精鍊音樂饗宴。當我試圖從時下音樂浪潮的立場中抽離來聽這張專輯，它還是給我極大的衝擊。它確實是十足的音樂好料。
With the highly anticipated release of “Bleuphoria” Mr. Patterson dropped a musical-morsel for his base in the form of “Easier Said Than Done.” A technafied, funkdafied slow-burn groove that we adore about this brotha. For me personally, besides the musical journey in each song, it’s also everything Rahsaan does vocally that stands-out above the rest. On “Easier Said than Done” his vocal range continues to be a master class of intonation. Rahsaan’s audience hangs on every word he sings. He’s just that damn good.
在高度矚目的專輯《Bleuphoria》發行之際，Patterson氏把他的音樂想法全心全力展現在單曲〈Easier Said Than Done〉，這位靈魂兄弟的音樂利用了讓人動容的技術性與放克樂精神。我的觀點是，除了徜徉在歌曲構成的音樂之旅，Rahsaan歌聲裡所要表達的東西是顯而易見的。他在〈Easier Said Than Done〉的音域依舊滿是巨匠般的語調，Rahsaan唱作恰如其分，好到無話可說。
With all due respect, as a Rahsaaniac, I cannot rope Rahsaan Patterson into any music category because he knows who he is musically; and I respect him, as well the choices he makes.
恕我直言，身為Rahsaan迷，我不能把Rahsaan Patterson歸到任何音樂分類，因為他清楚自己所作的音樂，而我尊重他，以及他作出的音樂選擇。
Rahsaan continues to move his music forward. Let us Rahsaaniac’s unite andkeep it moving.
