　Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all that show love/support for the projects that I have been releasing. If you like what you're hearing please continue to tell friends, family, co-workers... whoever about my self as well as the rest of the LOWBUDGET CREW. We need the peoples support being that a lot of the music that we do isn't supported by commercial radio or MTV or any "major" outlet for that matter. The only way this kind of music is going to grow is if the people/fans/supporters continue to do what YOU have done thus far. People wonder why i dont release that much music. Part of the reason is I'm kinda paranoid that even though I always feel the product is EXCELLENT, Im not sure if people are gonna REALLY show support or not... Its so easy to download free EVERYthing now. I already see a bunch of blogs with my new material up for free download...So thanks once again. Also Thanks to everyone that tweets, blogs or put something on facebook/myspace(social network sites) telling your followers/friends.

　Kev Brown是出道十幾年的HipHop/R&B音樂製作人，這封來信的大概意思是，他十分掙扎於時下的音樂環境，因為它存在著太多非法下載，而且他無法分辨下載他的音樂的那些人，其心態之究竟。2011年，Kev Brown發表了新作 Open Mic Knight ，很快的，一些直接下載的連結紛紛出現；他當然瞭解這趨勢無法阻止，然而作音樂畢竟還是得賺點收入，假如全都開放數位下載，那音樂人靠什麼維生？當然，能夠購買實體CD是最終極的理想，但現實環境似乎不太支持音樂人自己或唱片公司循此道進行，退而求其次，合法／付費數位下載是另個可行的機制，雖然它與非法下載就「技術面」是無區別的（差別只在於付費與否），可惜，消費者或下載者又是個難以區辨的兩個族群（覺得音樂好聽的不見得願意購買，會購買的又不見得透過網路），因此，哪一種公開或購買平臺最符合現代音樂的流變，益顯虛無飄渺。

　Kev Brown另外提到的是，他們儘量選擇避開商業電臺的作法，突顯了閱聽大眾的重要性。音樂人不會只作自己心中想作的音樂，他們長期巡迴各地演出，除了這是他們收入來源之一‧更重要的，從群眾的互動裡，可以得知哪種音樂氛圍是較受歡迎與可行的。簡而言之，商業行為不是獨立音樂的聚焦課題，如同Kev Brown的意思，獨立音樂的同行者絕非主流市場，而是所有支持這類音樂的聽眾（假如他們願意成為穩定的消費者就更好了）。


　第二件事，昨日途經臺北市市中心重慶南路時，赫然發現商務印書館裡頭居然堆著一落落的某購物頻道的紙箱，外頭有人拿著麥克風宣傳他們賣的是哪些保暖衣物。這教我非常詫異，一間歷史悠久的書店，門市搬遷後的舊址，被用作此等商業用途，而且大大的「商務印書館」實體招牌還掛在瓷磚牆面上，這反差也太大了吧！

　一間書店，許多人的記憶，這美好的繫聯，不知是業者的無所堅持或其他不為人知的因素，以粗暴的方式，就這麼切割掉了。我寧可昨日不要經過那裡，至少我不會留下如此匪夷所思的印象。如果，商務印書館就這麼堆塵下去，空蕩蕩的租不出去，也比賣著完全構不上干係的商品來得適宜。（回憶比得上現實來的重要嗎？）

　也許這是臺灣人對待老東西的慣有模式，不受人注意、吸引不了目光者，便受遭受如此下場；那些大量炒作的人事物，則不論其有無宣稱之價值，自然受到大量關注。人們變得因為必須在乎而在乎，喪失獨立思考的本能，習慣於追隨輿論與潮流；那些圍繞在生活周遭的細微、細緻部分，你我很容易忽略它，直到有人刻意或無意的提點到，而換來匆匆一瞥。

　「無理與無情」，或建築在無理與無情之上的「理與情」，是未來的世界觀，哪天你也路過商務印書館，或陷於Kev Brown所謂的偏執（paranoid）情狀，請不要太訝異，也請與眾生一樣的平淡帶過即可。

　或許你更幸福，連訝異的感覺都不會出現。
　

【ThinkLoud】ThinkLoud - Droppin' Mirrors

　
At last: We are proud to present our first release to be distributed worldwide.

Droppin' Mirrors is a musical cross-section of past collaborations, as well as a glimpse of projects to come.

But what makes this compilation special?

The tracks featured are no mere licensed releases, nor are they a "Best Of" of ThinkLoud's back catalogue. Droppin' Mirrors contains almost nothing but exclusive productions. These are the natural result of joint shows with, and tours managed by ThinkLoud's DJ Conikt across Germany and Europe. We managed to get artists like Aloe Blacc
(Stones Throw), Kev Brown (Up Above), Grand Agent (Superrappin') and Oddisee (Diamond District) on board. At the same time, young and talented artists like Portformat, Shuanise, Fid Mella, and others have found their way onto the album. They embody the very sound we are aiming for.

A major portion of the songs were composed by in-house producer Stroe, and recorded together with the guest artists in Berlin.

The result is a genre-crossing product that transcends its roots in Rap, Experimental, and neo-Soul.

Droppin' Mirrors sets sail towards electronically fragmented, soulful beats, deconstructivist arrangements, and unconventional ideas to let a charm of its own flourish.
